As a bridal makeup artist, Brides will often ask if Airbrush or Traditional makeup lasts longer on your wedding day. The answer is not always what you may think. While longevity of wear can differ based on the application, it mostly has to do with additional factors such as skin prep & base of formula.
I do offer both Traditional and Airbrush application options for my brides, and the choice of foundation is based on what their main goal is, how their skin currently is and how they want to look. Most everyone can wear airbrush makeup, but there are few scenarios that I would not recommend airbrush for (stay tuned for another blog post on this one).
The Airbrush foundation I have used for years is Temptu Perfect Canvas. I absolutely LOVE this formula for airbrush application above MAC, and any other formulas I have tried. Here's why (FYI: I am not an affiliate for Temptu or paid by them at all for this review):
1: The foundation is super lightweight, but not lacking in coverage. The reaction I get most often is "I can't even feel this on my skin." The brides see the coverage, even just the lightest spray, and are amazed. It is also buildable so you can (but don't necessarily need to, make it even more coverage). This even covers Rosacea!
2. The foundation is silicone based, meaning it has the ability to last all day! It is transfer & water-resistent, for those brides and bridal party members that are criers. It does not budge..I actually had a bride say "I cried at least 5 times and my makeup still looked great!" AND...it has 24 beautiful shades! I have never been stuck without a color match for a bride or bridal party member.
3. The bottles are small and plastic. Why is this important? Well, when carrying all of the makeup that we bring to a wedding (as makeup artists), we are always looking for ways to make our kits lighter!!! The plastic bottles or pods make it easy to bring multiple colors without increasing the weight of the kit too much.
BONUS information: Temptu has 3 airbrush machine options for Pros:
1. Temptu S-one Compressor - a heavy duty one -I recommend leaving this one in your studio/salon as it is very heavy to carry around - you will need to also purchase a airbrush gun with it. You can see it Here;
2. Temptu Pro Plus Compressor - a medium one - much lighter, but did not seem to be as good in my opinion with the air pressure compared to it's size. You will also need an airbrush gun for this one. You can see it Here; and
3. The Best one is the handheld, cordless one. Best Option for both weight and ability to choose 3 spray speeds. It is the one I now carry exclusively. It is called TemptuOne and you can get it Here.
